“Light is the first element of design; without it there is no color, form, or texture.”
Thomas E. Farin
Institute of Lighting Design (iLo) was founded in 2007 to promote the quality of lighting design. To this end, it is committed to exchanging and developing knowledge about light and lighting design.
The focus is on the substantive and artistic development of the lighting design profession. The iLo offers lighting designers peer-to-peer contact; a place to share experiences and ask questions.
This site provides access to our knowledge base, various networking activities and workshops, lectures, expert discussions, individual coaching and excursions.
“Creative and independent lighting designers are needed more than ever”
